Discovering Music: From Childhood Fascination to Artistic Expression
Ever since childhood, music has been my guiding light. It all started with a guitar that seemed too large for my small hands but ignited a lifelong passion nonetheless. Growing up in a household where melodies echoed from morning jams to late-night piano sessions, I soaked in every chord and rhythm around me.
Despite an early setback with piano lessons that didn’t quite resonate, my journey with music was far from over. In middle school, a friend’s drum set became my gateway to rhythm, though convincing my dad to invest in one took persistence and a lot of practice on makeshift drums.
High school introduced me to structured drum lessons and boogie-woogie piano, each adding a new layer to my musical palette. While my journey through school bands and electronic music experiments shaped my sound, it was the freedom of college that truly allowed my musical aspirations to soar.
College: A Fusion of Sound and Technology
At the University of Oregon, armed with a MIDI piano and a laptop, my dorm room became my studio. Here, I delved deep into electronic music production, learning to record and mix with minimal resources but boundless enthusiasm. While I didn’t pursue a formal music program due to my eclectic musical interests, I seized every opportunity to expand my skills through classes like “Electronic Music Techniques,” where I crafted intricate soundscapes and even created musical games.
It was during this time that I connected with fellow electronic artists, exploring new sonic territories and honing my craft in ambient and downtempo genres. Collaborations and late-night studio sessions became the norm, solidifying my passion for electronic music production.
Graduation and Beyond: Crafting My Sound
Upon graduating with a degree in Philosophy, I faced a pivotal moment. While many peers opted for further education, I set my sights on producing my first full-length album. Over the course of a year, I poured my heart into “Modcam – Six Minute City,” handling everything from recording to mastering. Despite the challenges of physical distribution in a digital age, it was a labor of love that defined my early career.
The evolution continued as I transitioned from Modcam to “Eternal Heart,” a new persona blending my love for ambient electronic music with the soulful resonance of Indian classical flute. Inspired by years of study under renowned flautist Steve Gorn, “Eternal Heart” embodies the eternal essence of our innermost emotions and spiritual journeys.
Current Pursuits: Continuing the Musical Journey
Since the release of “Coming Home” under my new persona, “Eternal Heart,” I’ve embarked on a prolific journey of musical exploration. With a series of singles independently released, each track reflects my evolving style and deepening connection to ambient electronic and Indian classical influences.
My latest releases have been a culmination of years spent honing my craft and exploring new sonic landscapes. Drawing inspiration from diverse musical traditions and personal experiences, each composition invites listeners into a contemplative realm where emotions and melodies intertwine.
As I continue to chart my path in the music industry, I remain committed to crafting compositions that resonate on a profound level. Whether through solo projects or collaborative efforts, my goal is to inspire and connect with audiences worldwide, fostering a deeper appreciation for the power of music to transcend boundaries.
Join me on this musical odyssey, where each release represents a chapter in the ongoing narrative of “Eternal Heart” and my dedication to creating timeless, evocative soundscapes.
